Dan Swann who presented one of the trophies from HSBC said,

"As 'the world's local bank' it is really important for HSBC to engage with the communities it serves. Having worked with the students at Landmark, I can say that they have all impressed myself and my colleagues with their energy and enthusiasm. It was especially pleasing to be invited and to present the awards to three such outstanding candidates. We wish all the Landmark Learners the very best in their future endeavours"

Landmark Learner Awards Ceremony

14th October 2009

Landmark’s students rewarded by big name sponsors at the annual Learner Awards ceremony

The Learner Awards is an opportunity bring together Landmark’s students, staff, supporters, employers and friends to celebrate the successes of the past year. This year was the first time we have had sponsorship for several of the Awards which meant we could reward the students with some great prizes.

The event took place in the glamorous setting of the main hall at the Old Town Hall, Stratford. The ceremony was hosted by two of Landmark’s learners, Chanice Cameron and Tahiqul Islam, who did a fantastic, very professional job of introducing the key speakers, awards and nominees.

  • Landmark learners put on a drama production illustrating a Landmark Journey, set on a London bus. They worked on the production with Nubeyonn Drama. MC Merker and Pylo showed off their musical talents and wowed the audience
  • Councillor Alec Kellaway, Executive Member for Business Partnerships and Skills presented the WOW Learner of the Year trophy
  • Susan Kaye and Tony Woodcock from Challenge of Excellence told the audience about the exciting week-long entrepreneurial Tsu’Chu Biz programme
  • Stephen O’Leary, the Key Worker manager presented a bouquet to the Canary Wharf Group to thank them for sponsoring and hosting the Tsu’Chu week
  • Lucidica were named Apprenticeship Employer of the Year
  • Representatives from City of London, Cadbury, ELBA, Flexworks, JCI, and HSBC came up to present the trophies to the winners of their respective awards

In the audience were our friends, Isabel, Phil and Chris, from Salesforce.com, and Derek Browne from Entrepreneurs in Action who spoke at last year's BizAcademy

Emma Revie (who was the CEO for Landmark until this summer) was also spotted in the audience looking very proud of the learners and just a teeny bit emotional!

Thank you to everyone who came along to the ceremony and made it such a great event!

A full list of all the winners will be posted shortly

and the Provider of the Year Award goes to... LANDMARK TRAINING!

4th June 2009

Landmark was named ‘Provider of the Year’ at the LSC Skills for London Awards!

We were awarded the title for providing 'exceptional and innovative training to young people from the most ethnically and culturally diverse boroughs in the country' (Newham and Tower Hamlets).

We're very pleased to have been given this fantastic title, and plan to keep improving what we do so well.

Alim Uddin, a learner from Landmark won the ‘Skills for Life Learner of the Year’ Award. Alim left school with only one GCSE but joined Landmark Training to improve his basic skills before moving onto the Apprenticeship Programme. He is now employed as a full time Training Coordinator for Salesforce.com in the City.
